Switched

From Goodreads

When Wendy Everly was six-years-old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her. It isn't until eleven years later that Wendy finds out her mother might've been telling the truth. With the help of Finn Holmes, Wendy finds herself in a world she never knew existed - and it's one she's not sure if she wants to be a part of.

What I Think

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started to read Switched. I chose to read it because of the success the author has had with the e-copy version of this book. I’m a tremendous fan of e-readers and always make sure my work is available in e-copy. I was also curious to read anything paranormal that didn’t include vampires or werewolves. I have a 14-year-old daughter (Team Jacob) and have had my fill of vampires and werewolves! I am happy to report, no vamps or weres in Switched. Humans and trolls only. Very contemporary trolls. No fuzzy pink hair or bridge dwelling.

Wendy Everly begins our story as a teenager, quite like any other. She is struggling to fit in at school and her family is concerned that she doesn’t have any friends. She seems unhappy and the reader can immediately empathize with her. When a stranger arrives to ‘take her home’ (She thought she was home), to her rightful ‘tribe’, Wendy is upset, suspicious and… tempted. After some events (that shall not be named) she agrees to go. The remainder of this first book in the Trylle trilogy is all about Wendy trying to find her way in this unusual world. The story is engaging (very), exciting, and fun. And although, I don’t know its official classification, I would consider it YA, perfectly suitable for elementary readers and up. I would definitely recommend this book and can’t wait to finish the series! Note: While the book does not have a traditional cliffhanger, it leaves you wanting more. You’ll need to read them all. I know I do!!!

  1. Hi,

It sounds like an interesting series. Congrats on self publishing a book! At this point I'm doing a poor job of finishing writing a book. Thanks for coming by and following. I'm following back!

  2. I bought all these since they were such a good deal and a lot of people have given them good reviews, but I haven't gotten around to starting them yet. My TBR list is just out of control haha and I really can't stop buying new ones! Oh well, I look forward to the day I actually start reading these so I can enjoy them too. :)
